Official Press Release
SAINT FRANCIS COLLEGE “TREATY STONE”
60’s & 70’s FOLK MUSIC REUNION
MARCH 10, 2007
Folk music was an important part of the culture of the 60’s and 70’s, and at the time many people, both young and old, found their voice in the music of that era.
In the early 70’s, a group of students at St. Francis College in Brooklyn formed a loosely organized club they called “Treaty Stone”, which promoted a series of musical concerts known as “Folk Fests”. These evenings of acoustic folk music and fellowship became very popular in the years from 1972 to 1977, attracting students from St. Francis as well as people from the surrounding communities in Brooklyn.
On March 10, 2007, the music and ambiance of these evenings will be re-created at a very special reunion “Folk Fest’ to be held in the main student cafeteria at St. Francis College at 180 Remsen Street, Brooklyn NY from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
Many of the same performers who played at these events in the 1970’s will be back including Emil Baccash, Peter Mancuso, Bill Boyle and Brian Dennigan of Brooklyn; John Kiely of Allendale NJ; and John Brandt of Augusta ME. The admission charge of $20.00 includes entertainment, beer, soda, wine, and food.
The event is being organized by the St. Francis College Alumni Relations Department. Tickets and further information about the event can be obtained by contacting the Donna DeSiena at the Alumni Office at (718) 489-5471 or ddisiena@stfranciscollege.edu.
